We bought the Costco 4-day "Go San Diego Card", and we used it every day! Pretty sure we got our money's worth out of it! First stop after the plane delivered us, was the car rental agency. Something about our facial expressions just screamed "Give us a KIA!". So they did.
Then we took off for the Zoo.
Then we toured a bit around Balboa Park (which is adjacent to the zoo). There's lots of cool museums. Hunter and I tried out the "History of Man" museum. We're not really into museums.
And we also took a tour at the Mormon Battalion Museum. That was very fun (no pics, sorry).
The next day was our Sea World day...
We were standing in the wrong spot to touch the dolphin. |

And then we went to Belmont Park where Hunter enjoyed the Lazer Maze, laser tag and video games. We did NOT enjoy the roller coaster...Alas, no pictures.
Friday was our beach day - the cloudiest, coldest day of the trip - of course. So we headed to the temple first, the race track second (where Scott took the best lap time), and then the beach.
No swimsuits were donned.

Love Hunter's face here! |
Here's a couple of pics from Old Town. It was walkable from our hotel, La Quinta Inn.
The final day we went on a Go Car Tour. We can say it was fun now...maybe... Hunter was the most frustrated of us all, perhaps because he felt the most helpless. Here's the story. These cute little cars are gps guided which means as you drive them around the approved route, they talk to you and tell you cute things about the history and buildings and waterfront, etc. So Hunter and I are following Scott, our fearless leader. We all have maps and verbal instructions of the route we are to follow. The only problem is they didn't emphasize enough that the nice lady talking to us on our GPS is NOT giving us the directions of the map we were to follow. She is talking as if we're taking the Long Tour, and we only signed up for the Short tour. We didn't clue into this until we were a few blocks away from the approved route. So then it was a matter of trying to get back on course, or back to our starting point. Instead of looking at our maps and figuring it out, we just drive and drive and try to find our way from one one-way street to another. I wish I had a map of the route we should have taken and a map of the actual route we took. It would be HILARIOUS! Seriously. But, we made it back eventually, 20 minutes late, only having heard half the real tour info, and fearing an additional fee, but they didn't seem to mind.
We were cuter with our helmets on. This is a post-trip pic. We're happy to be alive. |
We toured the USS Midway, which I thought was a very well-done tour.

So that's our trip in a nutshell. Very fun trip. I enjoyed every day!
